FAQ’s

Q. What if I am running late or need to reschedule?

A. Time has been specifically reserved for your appointment.  If you arrive more than 5 minutes late, a $5 charge will be added.  If you arrive more than 15 minutes late you will need to reschedule.  A missed appointment is at the client’s expense (full session charge).  A $10.00 fee applies if you reschedule or cancel with less than 3 hours notice.

Q. How does spray tanning actually work?

A. DHA (dihydroxyacetone) solution is sprayed directly on the client’s skin. It is derived from plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane, and by the fermentation of glycerin. The DHA reacts with protein in the stratum corneum (the outermost surface of the skin). When these two oxidize together they create a brown color. Varying percents of DHA levels are present in different spray tanning solutions.

Q. Is spray tanning safe?

A. Spray tanning is one of the safest methods of tanning on the market today. DHA has been approved by the FDA for external use.

The FDA guidelines recommend:

Use of Protective Undergarments

Use of Nose Filters

Use of Lip Balm

Use of Protective Eyewear.

We provides lip, eye, and nose protection and a well ventilated tanning area in order to limit any possible inhalation.

Currently, there are no studies on the inhalation of tanning solution having any effect.  Some health concerns with spray tanning solutions are the other 40 ingredients you can easily find in some of the solutions on the market. This is why Bronzed & Brilliant has committed to only using all organic products.

Q. Will I turn ORANGE?!

A. NO! Tanning solutions have come a long way in the last decade. The solution I use is a mixture of dark and clear tanning product. As a certified spray tan technician, I will assess your skin tone and recommend a formula that will enhance your look rather than change your skin tone to something that is unnatural.

Q. Is spray tanning safe while pregnant?

A. This will always be a question I leave up to the client and their doctor. Since I only uses organic products, I would have to say that it is the safest way to give your baby bump a little color. The only thing you should remember is that DHA is approved by the FDA for external use only and although there are not any studies showing any reason for concern, it’s better to protect yourself as much as possible. I would suggest keeping panties on and applying the lip protection for extra security while pregnant.

Q. Where do I go for my tanning session?

A. Bronzed & Brilliant is home based in North Fort Worth and is fully mobile for tanning parties, single tanning sessions and special events upon request.

Q. How do tanning parties work?

A. Get a group of people ready to be tan and I’ll come to you! I provide a pop up spray tanning tent and can easily set up in your home. There is a slightly different charge for spray tanning parties because it includes a travel fee. If the party consists of 4 or more the hostess will receive a free tan! Discounts are available for larger parties.
